05/31/2019 – The annual ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign is a high-visibility enforcement effort across Oklahoma that runs from May 20 to June 2, 2019. Aimed at enforcing seat belt use to help keep families safe, the national seat belt campaign runs concurrently with the busy travel season.

Today, Owasso officers participated in the effort by setting up a seat belt enforcement check-point on 96th Street North in front of Bailey Elementary School.

Owasso Police tell us that during the six hours they were out, sixty-one people were issued tickets for not wearing seat belts. At roughly six tickets per hour, that is a low number, showing seat belt usage has improved.

Several of our readers messaged us curious as to what police were doing there today.

Police also tell us a very nice citizen brought them cold water while they were there, and wish to thank her for the kindness.
