John Richard “Dick” Gulley was born June 21, 1927, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the son of Raymond Pleasant Gulley and Evelyn Mae Romine. He died Tuesday, September 27, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years. Dick was reared and educated in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Will Rogers High School Class of 1945. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Army during World War II. His tours included service as an artillery mechanic with the 713th and 745 Tank Battalion in Okinawa and Korea and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation. He returned stateside and was married January 6, 1959, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Norma Jean Franks. He spent most of his working life as an operations agent with American Airlines in Tulsa. Dick was a longtime faithful member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Tulsa. He enjoyed studying history, especially military history, as well as listening to music. Much of his time was just following his wife Norma wherever she led him.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brother, Tommy Gulley, daughter, Lisa Zimmerman, and granddaughter, Kriste Andrew.
 Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2016, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa with Chaplain Steve Williams officiating. Military graveside rites will be provided by the United States Army. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
