The Christmas season is underway at Owasso Community Resources as Capital One employees delivered 100 bicycles for the organization’s annual Giving Tree program.

Capital One employees spent last week assembling each bicycle. They purchased the bicycles and 100 helmets for children who will receive them in December as part of the Christmas outreach. The 15 employees delivered the bicycles, all with a sign with Christmas greetings, to OCR on Thursday.

“Partners like Capital One help OCR make a difference in children’s lives during Christmas time. Each of these bikes will bring a smile to a child on Christmas day,” said Randy Cowling, OCR executive director.

Ishmael Valenzuela and John Cook of Capital One coordinated the bike project.  Cook said their employees have been talking about it since last year when they built 50 bikes. This year they were challenged them to double their efforts to give 100 bicycles.  Capital One partnered with Academy Sports in Owasso who also donated a portion of the cost of the bicycles.

Cook said they encourage other businesses to invest back into the community and join with OCR to help families this holiday season.

OCR is currently signing up eligible families for Thanksgiving Food Baskets and the Christmas Giving Tree programs. For more information about signing up call 918-272-4969.
