05/11/2025 – Thanks to an unusually wet spring, Poison Hemlock is growing rapidly across the area—and it poses a serious risk to your health.

In the coming weeks, you may notice fields of tall plants topped with clusters of small white flowers. While not all white flowers are dangerous, Poison Hemlock can be identified by one key feature: purple splotches on the stem. If you see these markings, stay away.

Touching Poison Hemlock can cause a severe skin reaction—think poison ivy, but much worse. Ingestion is even more dangerous and can be fatal to both humans and animals.

Stay alert, educate others, and be cautious when you’re outdoors.
