Spread the love

A P VargasAlfred Paul Vargas was born January 15, 1925, in Salina, Kansas, to Benjamin and Paula Ramirez Vargas. The world lost a great man when he passed away early in the morning of March 5, 2018, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years. If it were not hard enough for Al being a child during the Great Depression, he and his siblings were orphaned at a young age and were raised in an orphanage on a farm in Abilene, Kansas, until he joined the CCC at the age of 15. Like many other young men of that era, he then lied about his age, 17, and joined the United States Marine Corp to serve his country honorably during World War II. Years after the war he married Josephine Lopez. He spent most of his working life as a crew chief with American Airlines in Tulsa before retiring in his 50’s. On January 17, 1975, he married Lola Bishop Pease in Miami, Oklahoma. Al enjoyed a variety of pastimes including watching little league baseball as well as Major League Baseball. He also took many trips traveling across the United States. He loved his children, his family, and his beloved dogs, Jackie and Jill.

Those he leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include:
His daughter, Cynthia Adams; his son, Chris Vargas and wife Toni; grandsons, Brian Adams and wife Jami, Joseph Hague, Todd Alhamed, and Zack Sawan; great grandsons, Conner and Noah Adams; brothers; Rudolph Vargas, Wilfred Vargas, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lola Vargas; sisters, Sarah, Hope, Josephine, and Frances; and brother, Gregorio.

A private family disposition will be held at a later date. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
