America’s Favorite dancers from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ coming to Tulsa
Dancers to perform Feb. 1 at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa
TULSA, Okla. – America’s favorite dancers from the hit ABC show “Dancing with the Stars” are performing Feb. 1 at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.
Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, Chelsie Hightower, Sasha Farber, and Emma Slater will take the stage with their partners and perform a non-stop high energy show featuring popular dances like the waltz, fox trot, rumba, two-step, and more.
The show will be hosted by celebrity soap star legend and stand-up comic Sean Kanan, with a special musical performance by George Lamond.
Tickets start at $45 and go on sale Jan. 2.
About the Dancers: Hough, Ballas, Hightower, Farber, and Slater have wowed millions of viewers on ABC’s No. 1 show, “Dancing with the Stars,” having just finished its 17th season.
Hough, an Emmy winner, is no stranger to the coveted mirror ball trophy. He is a five-time champion (season 7 with Brooke Burke; season 10 with Nicole Scherzinger; season 11 with Jennifer Grey; season 16 with Kellie Pickler; and season 17 with Amber Riley).
Ballas is also familiar with the mirror ball. He is a two-time champion (season 6 with Kristi Yamaguchi and season 8 with Shawn Johnson). In Season 11, he was the focus of a media frenzy as he took Bristol Palin all the way to the finals. Ballas has garnered a 2011 Creative Arts Emmy nomination for Outstanding Choreography for his creative pieces during Season 12, when he and his partner, Disney star Chelsea Kane, made it to the finals, finishing in third place.
Hightower, an Emmy nominee, came to “Dancing with the Stars” in Season 8 (with celebrity partner, Ty Murray), after placing in the top 6 of “So You Think You Can Dance.” Other notable partners have included Louie Vito, Jake Pavelka, Michael Bolton, and Romeo Miller. Though she has yet to win the mirror ball, She received an Emmy nomination for the “Paso Doble/Malagueña” dance that she and Hough performed and co-choreographed for Season 10.
Born in Russia, Farber started dancing at 13 in his new homeland, Australia. By 17, he had won the Australian Youth Latin Championships twice and represented Australia at the World Latin Championships. Previously, Farber was an original cast member and a lead dancer in the worldwide production of “Burn The Floor,” including critically acclaimed Broadway and West End runs.
Farber has also appeared in many television shows as guest appearance and/or choreographer for shows such as “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Dancing with the Stars” andMTV Music Awards. He has been a troupe dancer on DWTS since Season 13 and made his debut as a full-time featured pro in Season 17 with celebrity partner Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.
Slater is from Tamworth, a medieval town in the centre of England. She started dancing at the age of five and by age 16 was representing England at all levels and ranked in the world’s top 20. After being featured in the Universal Pictures movie “Mamma Mia,” Slater went on to be a featured cast member in several notable stage productions including “Dirty Dancing” and “Cheek to Cheek” in England, though she eventually landed a coveted residency in “Burn the Floor” on Broadway.
In early 2012, Slater joined ABC’s prime time show “Dancing with the Stars” Season 14, dancing in the Troupe and Choreographing, Emma appeared on all episodes in season 14 including the final. In Season 17, Emma made her debut as a full-time pro with celebrity partner Bill Engvall, making it all the way to Week 11.
Other dancers featured include Oksana Dmytrenko, Jonathan Platero, and Lindsay Arnold., all of whom continue regular appearances on “Dancing with the Stars.”
About the Host: Comedian and celebrity host Sean Kanan is an internationally renowned actor best known for is iconic role as Deacon Sharpe in the daytime drama “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Kanan has been a hard-working actor landing major roles in the megahit “Karate Kid III.” He subsequently moved to network television with roles on “General Hospital,” “Sunset Beach,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and “The Young and the Restless.”
In addition to acting, Sean frequents the comedy club circuit and makes numerous appearances at the world famous Hollywood Improv, The Laugh Factory and the HaHa, where he offers his perspective on his 10 years in daytime television, his time living in Italy when he was a featured contestant on the Italian ‘Dancing with the Stars’, and getting beaten up in “Karate Kid III.” He also toured with the USO, entertaining in places such as Bosnia and Kosovo.
About the Music Artist: George Lamond has been entertaining audiences for more than 20 years, having released five albums. Lamond made his debut in 1989 and went on to score a handful of Billboard hits through the early 90s, including “Bad of the Heart,” “Look Into My Eyes”, “Where Does That Leave Love”, as well as a Top 20 ballad duet, “No Matter What,” with Brenda K Starr. His success also landed him an opening spot on the North American leg of the New Kids On The Block tour.
In 1999, Lamond made his Salsa/Spanish music debut, “Entrega,” which spawned the No. 1 smash, “Que Te Vas.” The album went on to receive Gold certification by the RIAA.
In late 2000, Lamond released his follow-up album, “GL,” again spawning chart hits, including “Jurare Quererte” and “Me Niego Perderte.” During the 2000s George continued to tour the US, lending his vocals to other projects. Though hesitant, a producer/friend featured Lamond on a dance/pop version of Journey’s classic “Don’t Stop Believing,” which went on to be a Top 5 record on several radio stations in the US and Canada.
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa was nominated for an ACM Award for casino venue in 2013. It is located off Interstate 44 at exit 240.
