A FugateArlene Kay Fugate was born September 19, 1944, on the family farm in Chambers, Nebraska, to Clifford Merle and Jessamine Belle (Lewman) Potter. She died Sunday, August 21, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 71 years. Arlene graduated with the Norfolk High School Class of 1962 in Norfolk, Nebraska. After high school, she attended Beauty College in Casper, Wyoming, but during that time she met and fell in love with Frank. Arlene was married October 21, 1963, in Casper, Wyoming to Frank E. Fugate. She moved to the Tulsa area in 1965 and spent most of her working life as a manager for May’s Drug. Arlene was strong in her faith and grew up in Chambers United Methodist church in Nebraska and then joined Boston Avenue Methodist Church after moving to Tulsa. She had a variety of pastimes over the years which included Barrel Racing horses as a child, roller skating, playing bingo, tennis, golfing, gardening, volunteering with organizations to help with disabled children, and even racing her own car in the powderpuff races at the Tulsa Speedway. Arlene loved her time with Frank and taking regional weekend trips with him, and leisurely motorcycle rides together, having been a member of the Honda Club when they were younger and developing into Harley Davidson fans in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Lyle Potter.

Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2016, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel with Chaplain Tom Smith officiating. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Arlene’s memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
