Barbara MontoothBarbara Jean Montooth was born August 26, 1945, in Miami, Florida, to Abraham Lincoln and Kathryn Mozelle Barnard Tyre. She died Monday, September 23, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 74 years. Barbara completed her secondary education in Miami, Florida, and graduated with the Edison High School Class of 1963. She was married March 17, 1965, in Henderson, North Carolina, to Jack Montooth. Upon completion of Jack’s tour of duty in the Navy, they returned to Miami, Florida where Jack worked for Eastern Airlines until 1976. In 1976, Jack was offered a job at American Airlines and shortly thereafter they moved to Oklahoma where they made their home in Owasso. Barbara spent much of her working life in retail, but had also worked as an office supply manager, optical assistant, tag office clerk, dog groomer, and veterinarian assistant. She worked over 17 years as a cashier with Wal Mart. She was a longtime faithful member of Rejoice Church in Owasso then later moved to Collinsville Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes, but she especially loved animals, feeding strays, and babying her own domestic pets.

Son; Ty Montooth, of Owasso
Granddaughter; Jenni Lee Rigney and husband Jansen, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Sister; Jackie Jurgrau and husband Joey, of Davie, Florida
Nephews; Matt Jurgrau and Michael Jurgrau, of Davie, Florida
She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Mark Jurgrau.

 

Funeral service will be held 10:00 Friday, September 27, 2019, at Rejoice Church in Owasso with Pastor Leonard Pirtle, Pastor Adam Yandell, and Pastor Casey Cariker officiating. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
