Carol-Hill-1447858374Carol Jean Hill 70 of Owasso, OK passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, November 17, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born October 29, 1945 in Broken Arrow to Jess and Vera (Deckard) Hudson.
She was raised in Broken Arrow from age 5 by her grandparents, Frank and Nora Deckard. She graduated from Broken Arrow high school in 1963 and married Gerald Hill in June shortly after graduation. They were married 52 years. Carol has lived in Owasso since 1975. She retired form PSO in 2003 where she worked in the billing department. She was diagnosed in her late fifties with Alzheimer’s just shortly after she retired. The last 3 years or so had been the worst and she needed 24 hour supervision, but Gerald was committed to taking care of her to the best of his ability. Up until the last three to four weeks he would get her up every morning, bathe and dress her, and two or three days a week (weather permitting) he would load her up in the truck and they would go for a drive around the country side for a couple hours. We all know that this disease turns our family members into people we hardly recognize. It steals their personalities.

She loved to sing and dance to county music. She would always say to me the song “I was county before country was cool” was written about her. She often told a story about when she was a girl at her grandma and grandpa house and she would be out on the porch dancing and singing “walking the floor over you”, and she would laugh and giggle every time.

She loved going to camping at the lakes on the weekends when she was younger. All of mom and dad’s friends would get together and meet at one of the local lakes and we would all party, fish, swim, and ski all weekend. She was a very social person and seemed to really be happiest when she was surrounded by friends and family.

She loved to travel too. Mom had a great time traveling the US by car seeing everything. She loved to hit towns with big casinos. Mom loved the nickel slots. She would play for hours on end.

She was a true woman with an addiction to shopping and a major shoe fetish. We must have a couple hundred shoe boxes. There is no doubt that nearly every one of them have had shoes in them. I don’t think she has thrown a pair shoes away in 25 years.
