Charles Edward MorrisonCharles Edward Morrison was born July 15, 1932, and passed over the be with his Lord and with his beloved wife , Dean, on December 8, 2022. Charles was born in Searcy County, Arkansas, and lived in Michigan and Ohio after his military service. He had served his country honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War. He and Dean moved the family to Oklahoma in 1972, where they lived in Owasso and Collinsville since that time.

For the first two-thirds of his career Charles owned his own drywall contracting business and was known for the quality of his and his brother Aubrey’s work, all done by hand. He contributed to many of the homes built in Owasso and Tulsa during the 1970’s and 1980’s. In the 1990’s he became a merchant and he and Dean operated Morrison’s Country Store at the intersection of 96th Street North and 177th East Avenue in Owasso until their retirement in 2000, living above the store for many years. It was there that he was beloved “Mr. Charley” to the families in that area, particularly the children who loved his long candy aisle and Mr. Charley’s broad smile.

After retirement, Charles and Dean lived in Collinsville, until Dean passed in 2013. Later, Charles lived in the Owasso Baptist Villages’s Unity Square apartments. For the last year, he has been well cared for at the Claremore Veteran’s Center, where he passed quietly in his sleep. Charles’s family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Veteran’s Center for the excellent and loving care Charles received there.

Charles is preceded in death by his wife Dean Marie (Lawson) Morrison, by his parents, Albert and Minnie Morrison, and by all of his seven siblings, Devoe, Ray, Madge, Ellis, Clyde, Aubrey, and Joella. He is survived by his children Kevin Morrison and his wife Katrina, of Tulsa, James Morrison and his wife Kelly, of Owasso, Vicki Jannelli and her husband Ron, of Owasso, and Tonya Mays and her husband Blane of Bartlesville, by his sister-in-law Wanda Morrison of Owasso and also his grandchildren, Kristi, Lauren, Casey, Avery, Ilya, Patrick, Ryan, Spencer, Alison, and by his great grandchildren, Kaden, Harper, Rowan, and Elleigh.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2022, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Louis Winstead officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Charley’s memory to the Claremore Veterans Center-Benefits Fund, P.O. Box 988, Claremore, Oklahoma, 74018. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
