Christopher “Chris” Duane Carney was born on July 10, 1970, in North Kansas City, Missouri to Gene Edward Carney and Betty Ann (Fry) Carney. He passed from this life on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at his home in Owasso, Oklahoma. Chris was raised and educated in Kansas City and graduated with the North Kansas City High School Class of 1988. He then went on to attend Penn Valley Community College where he earned an associate’s degree in Fire Science. Chris spent the early years of his working life as a firefighter with the North Kansas City Fire Department but had more recently worked as a parts coordinator with Napa Auto Parts, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Cummins Southern Plains and Clifford Power Systems. He was married on May 2, 2009, to Kimberly Sue (Dobbins) Carney. Chris was very active in Boy Scouts of America and earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 301 in 1985 and later led as Cub Master with Pack 888. He was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Owasso where he was active in the children’s ministry and the safety team. In his spare time, Chris enjoyed a variety of past times such as camping and target shooting, but most of all he loved his family and the time he was able to spend with them.
