02/13/2018 – For the 2nd time in a week, two Owasso Schools were placed on lockdown.

At  9:15am, Owasso officers responded to a reported shoplifting in progress at Sam’s Club at 96th Street North and 129th East Avenue.   A male suspect reportedly ran from the store on foot, southbound into the residential neighborhood.

As a precaution, area schools were briefly placed on lockdown, while officers searched the area for the suspect.  After clearing the area and being unable to locate the suspect, the lockdown was lifted.

Police say that the lockdown was conducted out of an abundance of caution since officers were looking for a suspect in the general area (approximately ½ mile away).  There was never a known threat to the schools or the students.

The lockdown lasted approximately 30 minutes.
