Cletus Alfred Campbell Sr.Cletus Alfred Campbell Sr., 87, of Owasso, Oklahoma completed his life’s journey on March 21, 2020 in Owasso, Oklahoma. He began his journey on November 15, 1932, in Wapanucka, Oklahoma; born to Joseph K. Campbell and Jennie Lee (Whorton) Campbell. He was the youngest of six children. At the age of 16, Cletus joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served our nation for 20 years. On August 14, 1951 in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, he wed Shirley Mae Botterman of Manhattan, Kansas and they were happily married for 67 years. Together they raised five children; two boys and three girls. For many years, after his military service, Cletus enjoyed driving Big Rigs and ultimately turned to long haul trucking taking Shirley along as his co-pilot. The two enjoyed many years of trucking together along our nation’s highways and even in retirement Cletus and Shirley enjoyed the open road, hitching up their travel trailer and going across the country to visit family and friends, while in the wintertime settling into the warmer weather of the southwest. They made their final residence in Owasso, Oklahoma to be closer to family.

 

Cletus leaves behind many who will forever cherish the wonderful moments they had with him; those include a son; Cletus (Billy) Campbell Jr and his wife Ann of Kresgeville, PA; two daughters; Carolyn Manos and her partner Richard Chism of Spavinaw, OK; Edie Jewart of Collinsville, OK.; a son-in-law Donald Hunter of Pratt, KS; and a daughter-in-law; Ramona Campbell of Princeton, TX. Cletus was also the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Cletus was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; his wife Shirley; daughter Patricia Hunter; son Randall Campbell; son-in-law Michael Manos; and son-in-law Chris Jewart.

 

A visitation with family receiving friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso.
