David E. Hayes, 53, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend entered unexpectedly into the glory of his eternal life on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at his residence in Owasso, Oklahoma. 

David was the youngest child born to Ed Limon and DeLoris Mae (Fugate) Hayes on September 5, 1960 in Claremore, Oklahoma. David was reared and educated in Owasso and graduated with the Owasso High SchoolClass of 1978. After graduation he moved to Brownsville, Texas where he and his wife, Melody (Corley) Hayes were married on May 23, 1981. 

He and Melody owned and operated Four Way Auto Parts in Collinsville, Oklahoma for 15 years. After selling their business, he developed farmland they owned in Oologah known as Country Air Estates. At the time of his death, he was employed by Crossland Heavy Construction.

His love of hunting, fishing, old western movies, friendships and family knew no bounds. David was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known him.

He was proceeded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Lynn Hayes, father, Ed Hayes, brother, Eddie Hayes and grandparents; Eva Hayes and Todd and Pauline Fugate. 

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his beloved wife Melody Hayes of the home, sons: David W. and wife Stephani Hayes, Stillwater, OK and Dylan Hayes, Owasso, OK; his mother, DeLoris Hayes, Owasso, OK; mother-in-law, Lois Corley, Owasso, OK; two sisters: Lea Ann and husband, Bob Catlin, Tulsa, OK, and Kathy Helton, Owasso, OK; sister-in-law, Laura and husband Dan Byrd, San Antonio, TX; brother-in-law, David and wife Terry Corley, Tyler, TX and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Mowery Funeral Home in Owasso. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Fred Williams officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Talala, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Greg Fugate, Bob Fugate, Bob Catlin, Jerry Woods, Terry Flynn and Guy Kerr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan and David W. Hayes. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in David’s name can be made to the American Heart Association.
