David L. McCauley, resident of Bartlesville and formerly of Barnsdall passed from this life to his heavenly home on Sunday, February 5, 2017 (four days short of his 65th birthday). David was born February 9, 1952 in Pawhuska, OK, the 2nd son of George W. and Eva (Lytle) McCauley. He was raised and received his education in Barnsdall, graduating with the Class of 1970. On March 22, 1975, David and Rhonda Pease were united in marriage at the First Christian Church in Barnsdall. From this union, two children – Brooke Michelle and Dax Ryan were born. For 25 years, David worked for Conoco-Phillips in Bartlesville as a Director/Supervisor in the credit card division. At the time of his death, Lab Tech with Baker-Hughes Refinery in Barnsdall. David had continued his education and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma Wesleyan University. He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Barnsdall and served on the board for many years. He was a member Barnsdall School Board for 16 years, including serving as President of the Board. He was very active in the school system for many years especially within the Football Program. David, along with a small group of men was instrumental in reviving the Quarterback Club back in the late 90’s. They raised money for much needed equipment and field work, along with reviving school spirit within the school and community. Family was always the most important part of his life, especially his grandchildren. David enjoyed reading, woodworking, listening to classic rock music, OU Football, and was a Jeep enthusiast.
Surviving are his wife Rhonda, their children – Brooke Smith and husband Eliot of Bartlesville and Dax McCauley and wife Jaime of Dewey. Three granddaughters Lenni Jo, Perri, and Stevie. Two grandsons Dake and his namesake Hudson Mac. A niece Holly Malone and husband Gib of Barnsdall and their children Kyler, Kinnley, Easton, Deacon and Cruz. Also surviving is a sister, Karen Mayfield of Bartlesville, and two brothers Frank McCauley and wife Kim, and Jim McCauley and wife Debbie all of Barnsdall. David was preceded in death by his parents and one brother John McCauley.
Services will be Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Barnsdall First Christian Church with David VanHorn and Aaron Lawrence officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 4pm through 8pm. Burial will be at the Ethel Reece Cemetery in Barnsdall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bartlesville Public Schools Special Education Fund at 1100 SW Jennings, Bartlesville, OK 74003 to honor David’s memory.
