D MeredithDonald Ray Meredith was born October 21, 1931, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, to Manvil Warren and Della Allen (Creasey) Meredith. He died Wednesday, August 17, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years. Don completed his secondary education in Haubstadt, Indiana, and graduated with the Haubstadt High School Class of 1949. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Navy. He was married March 14, 1954, at Antioch Christian Church in Keensburg, Illinois, to Vera Marie Mowery. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Don attended Spartan School of Aeronautics. After graduation he accepted a job with American Airlines where he worked for 38 years before retiring as an inspector. Both Don and Vera rededicated their lives to God in August of 1954 and were baptized at Immanuel Baptist Church in Tulsa. People who were a significant Christian influence were Mr. and Mrs. John Hirst, Pastor J.L. Canafax, Brother Kenneth Smith, Brother Bob Green, Pastor Chris Wall, and Pastor Paul Purifoy. He served in his church as a deacon and Sunday school teacher to boys and men. He also helped raise and assist in the life of Vera’s brother, John Mowery, after the passing of their father. Don enjoyed a variety of pastimes including traveling and listening to Southern Gospel quartet music. Most importantly, he cherished his role as dad and husband.

Dean Meredith and wife Jill, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Seven grandchildren; Melissa Meredith, Kristina Fensler and husband David, Nathan Meredith,
Meagan Meredith, Andrew Meredith, Hannah Meredith, and Creasey Jo Lawson and husband Keith.
Two great grandchildren; Jaxson and Averie Fensler
Brother; Keith Meredith, of Medford, Oklahoma
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Francis Meredith, and three sisters, Mary Lou Cunningham, Ida Jean Faverty, and Jo Logue.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2016, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Chris Wall and Pastor Paul Purifoy. Committal service and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Owasso Baptist Children’s Home, 12700 East 76th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055, or Mission Owasso-First Baptist Church, 13307 East 96th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
