Doris Jean Hicks was born April 12, 1926, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to George Hugh Aston and Myrtle Neill Aston. She died Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 99 years. Doris was reared and educated in Tulsa and was a graduate of Will Rogers High School. She spent most of her professional career in the health industry as a medical transcriptionist. Doris was a longtime member of the Methodist church as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes, particularly dancing, spending time with family and was very patriotic. She found great joy in the companionship of her beloved dog, Rambler. Doris was an avid fan of football, especially her beloved Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. She dearly loved her family and was extremely fond of her role as “Mee-Maw”.

She was preceded in death by parents Hugh and Myrtle Aston, her brothers, Reese Aston, Hubert Aston, Roy Aston, and Don Aston, and sisters, Alma Robertson, Mary Royer, and Minnie Calhoun.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Final resting place will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
