Effie Ogliee (Hilburn) Roth of Owasso passed from this life on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the age of 93. She was born to Joseph and Dora (Hatchett) Hilburn on December 6, 1920 in Muskogee, OK. Effie was raised by her mother and stepfather Barney Spencer in Tulsa. She was a 1936 graduate of Clinton High School in West Tulsa. On May 7, 1939, she and Lawrence Stephen Roth were united in marriage in Tulsa. To this union a son was born. Effie was a longtime member of Boston Ave. United Methodist Church, and was Past Matron of the Oklahoma Eastern Star, #133 and Royal Neighbors. She loved making ceramics, crocheting and knitting. Effie was a loving friend, sister, mother and wife. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed being with family.
Effie is survived by her son Lawrence Andrew Roth, Sr. and his wife Sue of Owasso; her granddaughter Teresa Roth Lovelace and her children Taylor and Collin of Verdigris; her grandson Larry, Jr. and wife Janice and their children Amanda and Anthony of Owasso; and grandson Jeffery, his wife Kristie and their children Kaitlyn, Zachery and Nicolas also of Verdigris. Also surviving is a half sister Revonne Spencer Roth and husband John of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law Millie Roth Coldenhoff of CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Armon Hilburn, a sister Faye Hilburn Bush and a half brother Remell A. Spencer.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in the Chapel of Mowery Funeral Service with Rev. Dean Tucker officiating. Private burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa.
