Eleanor Pearl LenaburgEleanor Pearl Lenaburg was born May 18, 1934, in Camargo, Oklahoma, to Ollie and Lena Florence Duer. She died Wednesday, May 27, 2020, in Moore, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years. Eleanor completed her secondary education in Taloga, Oklahoma, and was graduated with the Taloga High School Class of 1951. She continued her education at Bethany College in Bethany, Oklahoma, then completed nursing school at Oklahoma General Hospital Nursing School. She was married August 19, 1955, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Donald Dean Lenaburg. She and Don made their home in Collinsville, Oklahoma, since 1967. Eleanor spent most of her working life as a registered nurse and was instrumental in starting the St. Francis Critical Cardiac Unit in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a longtime faithful member of Advent Lutheran Church in Tulsa, First Lutheran Church of Tulsa, Faith Lutheran Church in Owasso, and finally Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Skiatook, OK where she was very active in church work and committees. She also served as scheduling coordinator with the Tulsa Meals on Wheels. She spent many years as the school nurse in Collinsville, Oklahoma, before her retirement in 1987. She was an active supporter of the Collinsville Band, the Collinsville Volunteer Rural Fire Department, and with the Collinsville Ladies Auxiliary Post #5691 of the VFW. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including traveling, gardening, and cooking. She also enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed the Bingo games at her assisted living center and has the refrigerator full of candy bar winnings to prove it.
She was particularly fond of her role as “Grandma”.

 

Those she leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include:
Her children; Jalanna Jean Lenaburg, of Moore, Oklahoma; James Dean Lenaburg and wife Patrice, granddaughter Sasha Noel of Keller, Texas; Jerry Don Lenaburg and wife Mary Elizabeth, grandson Jonathan Douglas of Fairfax, Virginia
She is preceded in death by her parents Lena and Ollie, husband Don Lenaburg, brother Gale Hunter, and infant twin brother, and granddaughter, Courtney Elizabeth Lenaburg as well as Jalanna’s beloved miniature- Schnauzer –with- attitude grand dog, Kali Rikka.

 

Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Mark Neumann of Faith Lutheran church officiating. Serving as casket bearers were Mike McConnell, Mike Branen, Guy Kerr, Dave Dearhamer, Stan Teter, and Gene Adams. Committal service and interment followed at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where she joined her husband Don. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Meals on Wheels of Tulsa, 12620 East 31st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74146 or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 N. E. 13th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73104 in her name if desired. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Services of Owasso.
