As we first reported this morning on our Facebook page, seven area fire crews and the Air National Guard are still on scene of a fire that started at an asphalt plant at 66th Street North and 149th East Avenue around 9:30 this morning. Tankers with petroleum caught fire and quickly spread.

At approximately 11:50am one of the tankers exploded, injuring two firefighters. It is not known which city the firefighters were from. At least one of them was transported to Hillcrest Medical Center.

The roadway is closed, and we will update you with information as we receive it.
