Floyd Sydney PerkinsFloyd Sydney Perkins was born May 30. 1929, in Syracuse, Missouri, to Estil Walker Perkins and Eathel Routon Perkins. He died Monday, May 8, 2023, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years. After completion of his secondary education, Sid served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. It was during this time he began training as an electrician on engines and instruments of airplane cockpits. This served him well in his career as a mechanic and electrician with Boeing and American Airlines. Syd was married June 20, 1954, in Longwood, Missouri, to Bonnie Curry. They had made their home in Owasso, Oklahoma, since 1968. Syd was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in Owasso and was also a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including woodworking and watching sports. He especially loved his grandchildren and was fond of his role as “Grandpa Syd”.

And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 54 years, Bonnie, sister, Margaret Fowler, and brothers, Therol Perkins, and R.J. Perkins.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Bill Sharp and Derek Chute officiating. Sid will be laid to rest next to his wife Bonnie at Longwood Cemetery, in Longwood, Missouri. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Sid’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennessee, 38101-9908, or at www.stjude.org . Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
