James Dell Marshall was born January 7, 1931, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to James Ilaff and Ruth Edna (Denton) Marshall. He died Tuesday, October 15, 2013, in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years. James was reared and educated in Tulsa and graduated with the Will Rogers High School Class of 1950. He was fine athlete who was a state champion wrestler for the Ropers in 1950. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Marine Corp, where he continued his wrestling career with the Marines. James was married August 4, 1956, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Christal Mingus. They had made their home in the Tulsa area where James worked for McDonnell-Douglas as a jig and fixture builder until his retirement in 1995. He was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes, but most important was his family.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, at Hilldale Baptist Church in Claremore, Oklahoma, with Pastor Earl Skaggs officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
