Joan Mae SmithJoan Mae Smith was born on November 21, 1934 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Maxwell Bushong and Pearl (Busselle) Dugan. Joan passed from this life to be with the Lord on May 21, 2019 at her home in Owasso, Oklahoma at the age of 84. Joan was raised in Iowa and attended Eldon High School in Eldon, Iowa. Joan had a half brother Michael Dugan, and two half sisters, Sharon Grant and Lisa Dugan. 

In 1952, Joan married Donald Carr and they had two children, Keith (Sally) Carr of Cleveland, Missouri and Peggy Wilburn of Hartsburg, Missouri. 

In 1985, Joan married the love of her life James Smith of Fairfield, Iowa and welcomed his daughter Heather Smith into her life. They moved to Owasso, Oklahoma where Joan was a homemaker. Joan enjoyed hiking and walking at Oxley Nature Center. Joan also enjoyed genealogy and spend countless hours tracing her family history. Joan volunteered at Sequoyah Pointe Living Center where she visited and read to patients. Joan and her husband Jim were former members of Discovery Bible Fellowship in Owasso and recently joined Owasso First Assembly. 

Joan was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. 

Joan had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them and sharing in a weekly bible study group for more than 30 years.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents Maxwell Bushong and Pearl Dugan, brother Micheal Dugan, sister Sharon Grant and her son Keith Carr.
