John Wesley Wise was born April 10, 1923, in Blocker, Oklahoma, to Samuel Homer and Mary Elizabeth (Burgess) Wise. He died April 1, 2014, in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 90 years. John was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Air Forceduring World War II. He was married February 19, 1954, in Los Angeles, California, to Frances Dean. They had made their home in Owasso, Oklahoma, since moving here in 1968. It was at that time they became members of Westport Mennonite Brethren Church, now Discovery Bible Fellowship. John began working with North American Rockwell while in California, then as a truck mechanic with Crane Carrier Corporation in Tulsa. After retirement, he was a bus driver for the City of Tulsa and was a volunteer with Hillcrest Hospital with over 7,500 hours. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including singing and playing the guitar, particularly gospel, country, and bluegrass music. He also enjoyed playing dominoes and working in his garden.

Twin sisters; 
Betty Sue Landers, of Muskogee, OK
Mary Lou Daniels, of Victorville, California
Brother; Sammie Wise and his wife Dean, of Conway, Arkansas
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sabrina Schlotzhauer, and four sisters, Ruby Wise, Ruth Leach, Jean Martin, and Elizabeth Robinson.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 4, 2014, at Discovery Bible Fellowship in Collinsville with Pastor Mike Frantz officiating. Committal services and interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made in John’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans, 3131 East Pine Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74110. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
