Johnny Jeff Anderson, JR, resident of Collinsville, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the age of 90 years. John was born November 23, 1922 at Muskogee, OK to John Jeff and Millie Wilma (McKee) Anderson, SR. At a young age, the family moved to Tulsa where John was raised and received his education. He was a graduate of Tulsa Central High School. Shortly after graduation, World War II began, and he joined the Marine Corp serving as a Sgt with the 4th Marine Division in the Pacific. Upon safe return from the war, he served as a Sgt Major of the 45th Infantry Division of the Oklahoma National Guard. After graduating from the University of Tulsa in 1950, John worked for Proctor and Gamble before becoming a sales manager with Kennedy Mobile Home, retiring in 1984. In 1969, Johnny married Virginia (Jenny) Smith. To this union a son Matt was born. Not long after John and Jenny moved to Collinsville in 1972, he became active in the community. Many boys remember John as leader of the Boy Scouts of America. During his 30 year association with Troup 95, he received the SilverBeaver Award and saw ten boys achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion, belonging to the Collinsville Post for 20 years and was treasurer for 10. For several years, he was distribution coordinator for the Commodity Program and was active in the Masonic Daylight Lodge 542, receiving his 50 year pin in 2002. He also operated Anderson Auction for several years. For everyone there comes a time to sit back and enjoy life and in 2006, John decided to do just that, and began to enjoy time with family and flea marketing.

Besides his wife Virginia, John is survived by two sons – John, III and wife Judy of Owasso; Matt Anderson and wife Cydney of Collinsville; wife of deceased son Larkin – Phyllis Anderson of Georgia; four grandchildren Kelly Anderson, Whitney Pugh, Larkin Anderson, JR and Hailey Anderson; 2 step grandchildren Tyson and Corey Sargent; 6 great grandchildren Kayla Parker, Laci Porter, Michael Anderson, Danielle Haynie-Pugh, Taylor and Johnathan Anderson; 5 step great grandchildren Shondi Pugh, Cheyenne and Bradyn Gower, Grant and Wyatt Sargent as well as a great great granddaughter Cambri Porter. Besides a son Larkin Anderson, Sr, John was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister Marie.

Visitation will be held from 4pm – 8pm on Thursday, October 31st at Mowery Funeral Service. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Friday, November 1, 2013 in the Chapel of Mowery Funeral Service with Rev. Leonard Pirtle officiating. Private family interment will be held at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa Friday afternoon. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
