Kathleen Christian Stump was born December 18, 1947, in Du Quoin, Illinois, to Augustus Eugene Christian and Frances Elizabeth Christian (Vancil). She died Monday, March 11, 2024, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 76 years. Kathleen attended the University of South Carolina after high school where she earned her bachelors degree in nursing. She continued her education at Baylor Medical College where she earned an Advanced Practice Nurse in Midwifery and later earning her Master’s Degree in Public Health . Kathleen was married September 6, 1969, in Kabul, Afghanistan, to Jay DeBold Stump. She spent 20 years of her professional career as a certified nurse midwife with the Indian Health Service. Before retiring she attained the rank of Commander in the Commissioned Corps of the U. S. Public Health Service. Her entire nursing career was spent at the Indian Hospital in Claremore, Oklahoma. While there , she delivered over 600 babies. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes, but none more than helping others. She dearly loved her grandchildren and who affectionately knew her as “Mema”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Augustus Christian and Frances Christian-Coffey, stepfather, William Coffey, and brother, Edward James.
