L CareyLeroy Albert Carey was born June 1, 1949, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, to Albert J. and Florence (Pawlowski) Carey. He died Sunday, February 14, 2016, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 66 years. Leroy was reared and educated in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was a graduate of Nathan Hale High School. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. Leroy spent most of his working life as an entrepreneur operating his own businesses. He was primarily known as the owner of the Daylight Donut shop at German Corner between Owasso and Collinsville. Leroy enjoyed a variety of pastimes including fishing, hunting, and fishing some more. He also enjoyed working Sudoku puzzles and going to the casino. He cherished his role as “Papa” to his grandkids.

Heaven Scott, Haley Scott, McKenzie Carey, Austin Carey, Harley Smith, Kenna Carey,
And Harper Smith
Three sisters; Diane Sanders, Pat Dillard, and Marilyn Critcheloe
Three brothers; George Carey, Paul Carey and wife Kathy, and Jim Carey
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Kelsey Janae Trent, and grandson
Ayson Anderson.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Collinsville with Father Richard Cristler officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Sandridge Cemetery in rural Collinsville. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association, 1010 East Eighth Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74120. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
