Louise N.Louise Evelyn Nelson was born June 27, 1918, in Wagoner County, Oklahoma, to Frank Lesley and Cora Bell (Logan) Adams. She died Friday, August 1, 2014, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 96 years. Louise moved with her parents to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1926, where she was reared and educated, graduating with the Central High School Class of 1936. She continued her education attending Kansas City Junior College then Denver Bible Institute. She was married Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1940, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, to Reverend Luther M. Nelson. She spent much of her working life as a homemaker but also fulfilled the role of pastor’s wife with her husband while he pastored churches in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas. Louise and her husband made their home at the Baptist Village of Owasso in 1984. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Owasso, but throughout her Christian service she was active from the nursery to classroom teaching. Louise was a simple lady who spent much of her free time reading and studying the Bible.

Loving family members include: Three sons; Samuel Nelson and his wife Eva, of Red Bluff, California Phillip Nelson and his wife Karen, of Tampa, Florida Peter Nelson, of Tulsa Four grandchildren; Dawn Mowdy and Aimee Hamon and their mother, Noreen Nelson, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma Kimberly Salazar and her husband Bruce, of Greenwood, Indiana Robert C. Nelson, of San Francisco, California Two great grandchildren; Tiffanie Hamon and Titus B. Salazar She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Reverend Luther M. Nelson, and two sisters, Alberta Burnham and Myrtle Lightfoot.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Alsup Chapel of the Baptist Village in Owasso with Pastor Chad Balthrop officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. Because of Louise’s passion for missions, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the mission fund of First Baptist Church of Owasso Next Steps, P.O. Box 1020, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
