Lyndell Royce Dunn was born July 6, 1961, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to James E. Dunn and Karoline Opal Riley Dunn. He died Friday, August 29, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 64 years. Lyndell attended Owasso Public Schools from grade school through high school and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1979. Lyndell was married June 15, 1985, in Owasso to Jamie Anthony. He continued his education attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in economics. Shortly after he obtained his certified public accountant’s license. This began his career in accounting in Stillwater and Tulsa before establishing his own practice in Owasso.
Lyndell was a strong man of faith having attended Bethel Baptist Church in Owasso for over 30 years. In recent years he attended First Baptist Church of Tulsa where he was actively teaching and serving with his Community Group. Lyndell was regarded as a faithful student and teacher of the Bible. Lyndell was also a community servant and was a member of the Owasso Rotary Club. He also served with the Owasso City Council, having been elected to the City Council Ward 4 seat in May of 2014. During his tenure he held the title of Mayor of Owasso from May 2016 to May 2018. He served on Owasso’s Audit Committee and Capital Improvements Projects Committee. He was currently serving as Owasso’s Vice Mayor.
Lyndell enjoyed a variety of pastimes including woodworking and cooking on the grill and smoking meats. He also enjoyed playing cards and other games with his friends. Lyndell dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren who affectionately knew him as “Pops”.
