Marcus Wayne BakerMarcus Wayne Baker was born August 23, 1963, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Bill Gene Baker and Nancy Helen Carpenter Baker. He died Saturday, December 11, 2021, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 58 years. Marcus completed his secondary education in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Ardmore High School Class of 1981. He continued his studies at the University of Oklahoma, in Norman, Oklahoma, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in pharmacy in 1987. Marcus was married August 2, 1987, in Nowata, Oklahoma, to Gwendolyn Baker. He spent most of his working life as a pharmacist, beginning in Muskogee, Oklahoma, before becoming the National Coordinator of Operations with HPI Health Care Systems in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He came back to Oklahoma City in 1995 where he worked as Vice-President of Operations with Sequoia Health Services. From 1998-2000 he was the Executive Health System Director with McKesson MedManagement with Corpus Christi Medical Center. He served as the Director of Pharmacy Services with Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas, from 2000-2006. In 2006 he became the Director of Pharmacy Services with Comprehensive Pharmacy Services with Battle Creek Health System in Battle Creek, Michigan. In 2008 he became the Regional Vice-President with Comprehensive Pharmacy Services. In 2012, He became Director of Pharmacy Services with BSA Health System in Amarillo, Texas. In 2014, he returned to Comprehensive Pharmacy Services working as Regional Vice-President of Pharmacy Operations. In 2020, Marcus was promoted to Senior Vice-President of Operations. In 2021, Marcus became the Pharmacy Manager to PAM Specialty Hospital of Tulsa. Marcus was a member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists and the Oklahoma Society of Health System Pharmacists. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including driving his Porsche and spending time on the golf course. Marcus was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners. He was especially fond of his role of “Pops”, and spending time playing with his granddaughter, Blaine.

Father; Bill Baker and wife Susie, of Norman, Oklahoma
Nieces and nephews; Shari, Emily, Austin, Morgan, Matison, Mason, and Makensey
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Helen Baker.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, at Adventist Fellowship in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with Pastor Bill McClendon officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Benton Baker, Derek Fast, Morgan Williams, Matison Williams, Mason Williams, and Austin Lampeth. Honorary casket bearers will be Caleb Minty and Jeff Fogelquist. Marcus will be buried at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Marcus’ memory to the Glioblastoma Foundation at www.glioblastomafoundation.org . Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
