funderal-flowers-9647_200x200Mildred Jean Mathews, resident of Owasso, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Rolling Hills Care Center in Catoosa. She was 90 years of age. Mildred was born August 7, 1923 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Archie Lee and Gladys (Wells) Pultz. She was raised and received her education there, graduating high school in 1941. On March 10, 1943, she and William A. “Bill” Mathews were united in marriage in Dalton, Georgia. To this union, three daughters were born. Mildred and Bill made their home in Tulsa before moving to Owasso in 1975. She had been a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Tulsa and had volunteered at Doctor’s Hospital for 25 years. Mildred was an excellent seamstress and cook, and enjoyed bowling and square dancing for many years. Bill preceded her in death on October 6, 2004.

Those that survive include her daughters – Maureen Jo Bishop and husband Darrel of Richardson, TX, Pam Braden and husband George of Denison, TX and Patricia Lee and husband Ronny of Owasso. Also surviving are four grandchildren – Mike Bishop, Chad Bishop, Alex Lee and Lindsay Lee-Waters; as well as eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Besides her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Private family services were held Saturday, March 29, 2014 in the Chapel of Mowery Funeral Service with Mr. Mike Bishop officiating. Special music was provided by a great granddaughter Sevyn Waters. Burial was next to her husband in the Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery, Owasso. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
