Sears Home Appliance Showroom, Owasso

Now there’s one more reason not to leave Owasso even when shopping for larger ticket items— the new Sears Home Appliance Showroom in Smith Farm Marketplace. Offering appliances, mattresses, and vacuums in store, they also have access to the entire full line of Sears’ products if customers would like to order something not carried in the store.  sears1

There’s even the option of having your old appliances hauled away (via a third party) when purchasing new ones.

Owners Travis and Carrie Arrowsmith took ownership of the franchise this fall, but are certainly not new to the appliance business.  “I had been working at the Metro Appliance in Owasso for a few years when they decided to close that store,” Travis says. “We had just had our third child when I was laid off.”

With three children, one of which has special needs and requires multiple therapy sessions per week, Travis stayed home with the children until the opportunity to work for Sears arrived.

“In the midst of the interview process to become the store manager I learned that the store would become a franchise,” Travis says. “Since Carrie and I met, we had always had the vision of owning our own business. With the opportunity to do so in a community where we knew we could be successful, we were very excited!”

Carrie adds, “Another contributing factor came when our daughter Charlotte was born with cerebral palsy; the desire for the independence and financial security that comes with opening our own business became our primary goal.

“We don’t know if she will ever be able to be an independent woman. We feel we have a responsibility to provide for our family, and we want more for all of our children than to survive on state assistance. So with some lengthy discussions, we began the process of purchasing the franchise, and the rest is history.”

When Travis’ previous job ended that led them to Owasso, the Arrowsmiths knew Owasso was still the place for them, and they are excited to offer great items and value to the Owasso community.

“We feel like we are part of a great community of business and people,” Carrie says. “I especially love that it’s a small community, yet close to Tulsa. Growing up in Joplin, I am comfortable with smaller towns and actually prefer the smaller town. In researching Owasso for our kids, the school district is great, and the ratings are some of the best around.”

“And growing up in Tulsa I never imagined I would like the smaller town atmosphere, but Owasso has quickly become home. I love how I can help people purchase products that make their lives easier and then bump into them at the grocery store and get that feedback on what they bought,” said Travis.
