Best of Show - Melanie Smith

Owasso Community Resources held a poster contest open to all students PreK to 12th Grade. Winners of the 76 entries were announced at a come-and-go reception on Thursday night.

“There are very many talented and artistic students in our community,” said Randy Cowling, OCR Executive Director. “They displayed great insight with their work and how OCR helps individuals and the community.”

Kay Bratcher, Owasso High School Art Teacher, assisted in the organization of the contest and enlistment of artists. The Owasso Arts and Humanities Council provided funding for prizes and ribbons.

“We couldn’t have done this without Kay’s help. She really inspires students to express themselves through art,” Cowling said.

“The Owasso Arts and Humanities Council has been a long term sponsor of arts in our community. We appreciate their generosity to honor students who are interested in sharing their talents.” Cowling said.

The entries will be on display at Owasso Community Resources, 109 N. Birch. Winners received cash prizes and ribbons. There were four categories for students to enter: PreK to 2nd Grade, 3rd through 5th Grade, 6th to 8th Grade and 9th to 12th Grade.

Owasso High School senior Melanie Smith’s work was judged Best of Show.
