11/07/2017 from the Owasso Police Department

Officers were dispatched to a theft that had just occurred at Hibbett Sports, which is located at 12207 East 96th Street North.  The group of five suspects reportedly fled the scene with a large amount of clothing in their vehicle, traveling southbound on Highway 169 from E 96 ST N.  An officer quickly located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.  The vehicle initially appeared to yield for the officer, but then accelerated rapidly and fled down the 76th Street off-ramp.  Additional officers joined in the pursuit and the suspect vehicle attempted to ram into one of the marked Owasso police cruisers, forcing the officer to take evasive action to avoid being struck by the suspect.  The pursuit traveled west on surface streets around 76th Street, until an officer was able to successfully deploy stop sticks, disabling the vehicle near the 300 block of East 2nd Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle, Kevin Yarbough, was taken into custody, along with four female passengers.

Inside the vehicle, officers located the items reportedly stolen from Hibbett Sports.  Officers also located a large amount of clothing that had reportedly been stolen earlier from The Children’s Place, located at 9002 North 121st East Avenue.  A subsequent investigation revealed that the five suspects appeared to have acted in concert to steal the items from both stores.  The total theft from Hibbett Sports was $1559.94 and the total theft from The Children’s Place was $1,152.90.
