A portion of the proceeds from the event benefit the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training (LLS TNT). Rose’s daughter is a Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor and she has committed to raising $2,500 to help find a cure for blood cancers. As part of her commitment, Rose will be doing a Half Marathon on May 1st with Team in Training.
The mission of TNT and LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. They are making wonderful strides in the survivorship rate for blood cancers by funding over 200 select researchers worldwide. They are developing miracle drugs, such as Gleevec (funded solely by TNT participants). This is a successful alternative to traditional chemotherapy for chronic myelogenous leukemia patients, and it is also being positively tested on many other forms of cancer.
