R McdonaldRobert “Bob” J. McDonald was born October 14, 1930, in Talala, Oklahoma, to Lester Gray and Ethel Mae (Jordan) McDonald. He died Saturday, April 30, 2016, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years. Bob was reared and educated in Collinsville, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Collinsville High School Class of 1949. He was married March 9, 1961, at First Baptist Church in Miami, Oklahoma to Vera Jean Wooldridge. Bob served his country in the United States Army and after being honorably discharged, he spent most of his working life as a Staking Engineer for Verdigris Valley Electric Company. Bob enjoyed a variety of pastimes including, rabbit hunting, crappie fishing, and in his younger days he loved going dancing at Cimarron Ballroom to Texas Swing music. He also enjoyed watching golf on television and was even fortunate enough to get to see the Master’s live in Augusta, Georgia. Bob was an excellent story teller and shared many of his stories over a cup of coffee at Karen’s or the donut shop.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Mervyn G. McDonald, Sister, Norma Lee Karr, half-brother, Mayo McDonald, and grandson, Aron Morgan.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Collinsville with Pastor Tim Prock officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Collinsville Building Fund, 1301 West Main Street, Collinsville, OK 74021. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
