Robert “Darrell” Smither was born on September 16, 1940, in Mulberry, Arkansas to Robert Alexander Smither and Era Helen (Robertson) Smither. He passed from this life on Monday, December 8, 2025, in Owasso, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years. Darrell was raised and educated in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated with the Will Rogers High School Class of 1958. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Tulsa. Darrel was married on September 12, 1964, in Tulsa to Ann (Snelgrove) Smither. He spent most of his working life as an engineer with PSO and AEP for 37 years. He was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church in Owasso where he was active with English Language Learners and the Disaster Relief team. In his spare time, Darrell enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, traveling, and playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Era Smither, and his sister, Marilyn Carty.
