R L BarnesRobert Leland Barnes was born March 10, 1931, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to C. Roy Barnes and Elizabeth Parker Barnes. He died peacefully at his home the afternoon of November 16, 2017, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years. Bob was reared and educated in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Muskogee High School Class of 1949. He continued his education at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, which was known as Oklahoma A & M at that time. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Air Force. He was married May 30, 1954, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Phyllis Ann Ballew. Bob had worked several different jobs including National Tank Company before owning and operating his own business Advertising and Printing Service of Tulsa. During his life in Tulsa, one of his joys was coaching youth baseball and basketball, while being a very involved Dad to his own three children. After living in Tulsa for 36 years, Bob and Phyllis moved to their lake home outside Grove, OK to enjoy lake living. While living in Grove, Bob was very active in the Lion’s Club, served on the City Council, as well as numerous other civic organizations. In 2001, Bob and Phyllis moved to Collinsville, OK to be close to family. Bob was active with several groups and organizations throughout his life including Masonic Lodge and, most recently, the WPS Singles which met every Wednesday. He was a longtime faithful member of Rejoice Church in Owasso. He loved to spend time with his friends playing golf, poker, dominoes, cards, and Wahoo, particularly with his Wednesday group. He especially loved watching his grandkids and great grandkids in all their sports activities and competitions.

Melissa Hurst and husband, Stoney, of Collinsville
Micah Summers and wife Kacy, of Collinsville
Robby Barnes and Morgan Barnes, both of Phoenix, Arizona
Great grandchildren; Clayton Hurst, Clint Hurst, Cassidy Hurst, Mckade Summers, and Chisum Summers
Brother and sister-in-law; Gene and Marilyn Barnes, of Texas and brother-in-law Glynn Ballew of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis Barnes, and son-in-law, Mike Summers.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Rejoice Church in Owasso with Pastor Casey Cariker and Pastor Leonard Pirtle. Private family disposition will be held at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Rejoice Foundation, 13413 East 106th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma 74055.
