Spread the love

Sallie Ann Bantz Coltharp was born Dec. 4, 1940, in Amarillo, Texas. She passed away June 21, 2025, in Owasso, Okla.
This loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Sherrod Lynn Coltharp. She is survived by her children, Christy Smith (Chad) of Sperry, Okla., and Richard Coltharp of Las Cruces N.M.; her niece, Kelly Gillham, of Fort Worth, Texas; her four grandchildren, Jessica Grisak (Tyler) of El Paso, Texas; George Ryan of Owasso; Kyla Ryan of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and Avalon Coltharp of Las Cruces, N.M.
Sallie grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband at Polytechnic High School. They both graduated in 1959.
She attended Texas Christian University, Texas Woman’s University and North Texas State University, earning her degree in elementary education in three and a half years, right before marrying Sherrod Lynn in July 1962.

They traveled the country together for several years, following Sherrod’s work, and raising their young son, Richard David. In 1965, they settled in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Sallie began her teaching career. They soon had a second child, Christy Lynn, and in 1969, the family moved to Tulsa, Okla., to begin a new life.
Sallie began substitute teaching for a few years, but in 1974, earned her real estate license, embarking on a second career she never could quite retire from. Satisfied customers, and even their children, kept returning to Sallie to be their agent.
In 1983, they moved to Owasso, Okla., to live in an airport community neighborhood to further Sherrod’s hobby of flying.
For a few years, Sallie was co-owner of a bookstore in Owasso.
Sallie and Sherrod loved to travel, visiting family and the many friends they made together through their careers, hobbies and activities.
They lived a full, rich, active life, surrounded by friends, family and the several dogs they owned together over the years of their marriage.
She was a member of Owasso First Methodist Church and enjoyed creative passions throughout her life, often involving sewing and quilting.
She was proud of her Texas heritage, and remained a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, but at one point finally recognized and admitted she was a true Oklahoman.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Mowery Funeral Home in Owasso, Okla., 9110 N. Garnett Rd.
The Family requests memorial contributions be made in Sallie’s memory to the Alzeheimer’s Association, www.alz.org and/or the Parkinson’s Foundation, www.parkinson.org
