Each blood donor will receive a “Set Sail” T-shirt and TWO entries to win a 7-night Caribbean cruise provided by Fundraisingcruises.org. Additionally, if blood donors choose to forgo the T-shirts, funds designated for this item will go to support the Global Blood Fund (GBF). GBF is an international nonprofit that assists blood centers in developing countries.

“Saving lives through blood donation is a New Year’s resolution that’s easy to keep,” said Jan Laub, Executive Director of Oklahoma Blood Institute Tulsa. “Nothing feels better than making such a huge impact in our community.”

Oklahoma Blood Institute is the local non-profit blood center providing every drop of blood needed by patients in nearly 90 percent of the medical facilities across the state including all Children’s, Veteran’s and Indian hospitals.

Of those eligible to donate blood in the U.S., only 10 percent actually do, despite it taking only about one hour and having a tremendous impact. One single donation can save as many as three lives. Donations can be made every 56 days.

Appointments are not required but can be made by calling (877) 340-8777 or visiting obi.org.
