Sharing Photos Online Tuesday, Sept. 24 • 6-7 p.m. Photo storage sites can be a great way to share and back up your photos. Knowing what to look for and what’s best for you and your family can be a little confusing. Deronda Moore, owner of Moore Reflections, will share tips and other useful information when looking for storage sites for your photos and/or videos. Avenging Booklings: Teen Book Club: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month Tuesday, Sept. 3 • 4-5 p.m. To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, read the award-winning book Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz and then join us for this lively discussion. For ages 13 and up.

 

In the Middle Book Club Thursday, Sept. 5 • 6-7 p.m. Join us for our first meeting of our new book club for ages 9-12. We’ll talk about what books we want to read this year.

 

Banned Books Buttons Tuesday, Sept. 24 • 4-5 p.m. Learn about why censorship matters and make a button of your favorite banned book to take home with you! For ages 10-18.

Build A Reader Storytime: Babies & Toddlers Tuesdays, Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24 • 10-10:25 a.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24 • 10:30-10:55 a.m. Ready, set, READ! This beginning storytime focuses on helping your baby or toddler develop important literacy skills while emphasizing the fun of reading. For ages birth-2.

 

Build A Reader: Stay and Play Tuesdays, Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24 • 11-11:25 a.m. Playing is learning! Join us for games, toys and activities that foster critical early literacy skills. For ages birth-2.

 

Build A Reader Storytime: Preschool Wednesdays, Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25 • 10-10:25 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25 • 10:30-10:55 a.m. The best in children’s literature, songs, games, finger plays, rhymes and other reading-related activities are shared with your preschooler. For ages 3-5.

Early Readers Book Club Monday, Sept. 9 • 4-5 p.m. This is our book club for our earliest readers. Children ages 5-8 will enjoy a variety of books read aloud to them and will do an activity based on one of the books.

 

PAWS for Reading Wednesday, Sept. 18 • 4-5 p.m. Registered therapy dogs are excellent listeners. Kids ages 5-12 are invited to read their favorite books to a furry, four-pawed friend. Each reader will receive a free book provided by the Raymond and Bessie Kravis Foundation through the Tulsa Library Trust. Registration is required. Amazing Adaptations: Presented by the Tulsa Zoo Thursday, Sept. 19 • 6-7 p.m. Animals have amazing adaptations to help them survive in their environment. Learn about some of these adaptations that help them find and/ or catch their food. Presentation includes live animals from the Tulsa Zoo! Sponsored by the Friends of the Helmerich Library. For ages 5-12.

 

Build A Reader Storytime: Special Saturday Edition Saturday, Sept. 21 • 10:30-11 a.m. Bring the whole family for this 0-to-5 storytime! There’s something for everyone – simple songs and books for the little ones, more interactive stories and activities for your older children.
