Sherry Lee BurmaSherry Lee Burma was born August 29, 1964, in Atlas, Oklahoma, to John Wade Nowlin, Sr., and Saundra Lee Howerton. She died Friday, December 20, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 55 years. Sherry completed her secondary education in Owasso, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1982. She continued her education at Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Sherry was married December 28, 1990, in Rogers County, Oklahoma, to Mike Burma. She held various jobs throughout her life working as a bank loan officer and helping in her father’s gun business. She was also a loving homemaker who cared greatly for her family. She was currently working as a registered nurse with the Oklahoma Heart Cath Lab. Sherry was strong in her faith and was a member of Baptist Tabernacle in Collinsville, Oklahoma, where she had served in the nursery, Sunday school teacher for three and four year old children, Bible school superintendent, as well as a leader in the Awana’s. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including traveling with her husband Mike. She also enjoyed family gathering and entertaining friends. Of course, she loved being around the kids and playing with the grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Nowlin, Sr.

 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2019, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturdayt, December 28, 2019, at Baptist Tabernacle in Collinsville with Pastor Gary Boyd officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oologah, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle Awana Fund, 13300 East 136th Street North, Collinsville, Oklahoma, 74021. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
