Shirley Ann Sunderland was born January 10, 1932, in Diamond, Missouri, to Frank and Lorene Hites Knee. She died Tuesday, December 18, 2018, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years. Shirley was reared and educated in Missouri and graduated with the Neosho High School Class of 1950. She was married July 7, 1955, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Ben Lee Sunderland. She spent much of her working life as a manager with American Airlines in Tulsa. Shirley was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church in Owasso. She spent over 20 years as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including traveling, but she especially enjoyed spending time working in her yard and gardening. She dearly loved her family.

Adriane Jones and husband Casey, of Fate, Texas
Blake Sunderland and wife Julie, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Great grandchildren; Benjamin Sunderland, Shane Sunderland, Zachary Jones,
Rylan Sunderland, and Sadie Sunderland
Two sisters; Gloria McGee, of Springdale, Arkansas, and Nancy Sarduk, of Joplin, Missouri
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ben, great granddaughters, Ally, Emily, and Presley Jones, and two sisters, Betty Pruitt, and Georgie, Freed.
 
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Randy Shaddox and Pastor Paul Purifoy officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be John Dresher, Randy Lee Sunderland, Casey Jones, Blake Sunderland, Jerry Denton, Randy Oxley, and Ben Sunderland. Honorary casket bearers will be Shane Sunderland, Rylan Sunderland, Zachary Jones, Patrick Denton, and Alex Denton. Committal service and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Meals on Wheels, 12620 East 31st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74146.
