The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Thursday night, October 2, 2025, in LeFlore County.

According to troopers, the crash happened around 9:26 p.m. on U.S. Highway 259, about two-tenths of a mile north of Ashby Road. Investigators say a vehicle driven by 65-year-old Erwin Wayne Foster Jr. of Sperry, Oklahoma, was traveling northbound when it failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway to the left, traveled approximately 285 feet through a ditch, and struck a tree before coming to rest.

Foster, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other passengers were in the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation by Trooper Michael Scantling of Troop D. Officials noted that details are preliminary and subject to change as the investigation continues.
