Terry Brent Guthery was born August 16, 1949, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Walter Alfred Guthery and Velma Lavel Barnett Guthery. He died Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Tulsa at the age of 76 years. Terry was reared and educated in Houston, Texas, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was a graduate of East Central High School. He continued his education attending Oklahoma State University Technological School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, earning his Associate degree in Applied Science in Shoe, boot and saddle.
Terry served his country honorably with the United States Army during the Vietnam war and after in Chicago, Illinois. He married Kim Orvis, on December 18, 1984, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Terry spent most of his professional working career as the owner and operator of Guthery’s Tae Kwon Do in Owasso, Oklahoma. Through the martial arts school he graciously donated his time to other organizations including rape prevention seminars, parades, and canned food drives. Terry also worked as a skilled telecommunications lineman with Southwestern Bell and other telecom companies, a skill he developed during his time in the Army. Terry’s many hobbies and interests included work with horses and other animals, electronics, astronomy, scuba diving, and motor vehicles. He was especially proud of his 1969 Mach 1 red Ford Mustang, which he spent considerable time restoring and used to entertain his grandchildren. Terry dearly loved his family and his beloved cats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Velma Guthery, and brother, Bob Guthery. His surviving family and friends cherish their memories of his generous spirit, sense of humor, and infinite love.
