The Rejoice Christian High School Student Council was voted District 6 President at the Oklahoma Association of Student Councils Spring District Convention at Owasso High School on March 9.
“I cannot put into words how proud I am of all of the kids, especially our senior leadership who truly took the reins and just made it happen,” said Rejoice High School Student Council Advisor Angela Wilkes.
Rejoice has been involved with district events and state conferences in the past, but this was the first year the school attended the Spring Districts.
While they were in the running for the presidency at the convention, fourteen RCS students performed a “Lion King”-based skit with the theme of problem solving and leadership. With faces painted and acting skills highlighted, their performance left the crowd smiling.
Wilkes said this honor is a wonderful addition to a school year filled with hard work from a great group of students, most of which have been involved with Student Council the last four years.
“I think it really reflects the leadership skills that I have seen in those students that have continued to develop over the last four years,” she added. “Just watching their maturity level as they have grown as leaders, I just knew that they were ready for this opportunity.”
District 6 is comprised of 20 schools, including Owasso High School, Lincoln Christian, Bartlesville and Skiatook. As President for the 2016-2017 school year, Rejoice will host the OASC District 6 Officers Meeting for the Executive Boards of the schools. The Rejoice Student Council was also recently named a Gold Chapter.
