Spread the love

The Rock of Greater Tulsa is a new congregation of believers in the Owasso area.

Led by apostolic government, the church fully adheres to the Scriptures and to the historic teachings of the Church.

Not affiliated with a denomination, nor wishing to be known as non-denominational as that has become a sort of denomination in itself, Apostle David Priest describes The Rock of Greater Tulsa as a five-fold ministry Kingdom Ecclesia.

Priest and his wife Angela have been in the ministry for the past 18 years and felt the leading of Holy Spirit to launch the church in Owasso after being on staff for seven years at The Rock of Northwest Arkansas.

“We are a people who love Yahweh (God), are joined to Him and to each other in order that His glory may be revealed in the earth,” Priest, a Tulsa-area native, says.

The desire, or heart, of the ministry of The Rock of Greater Tulsa is to provide a safe place for those desiring an organic and dynamic spiritual relationship with Yahweh (God) that is available through the finished work of his Son, Yahshua (Jesus Christ), and the ongoing ministry of the Holy Spirit in the earth today.

Priest further explains what The Rock is all about: “We are also thoroughly experienced in the gifts and operation of Holy Spirit along with the signs, wonders and manifestations of the glory of the Lord. However, we have no system of beliefs that have been hammered out or inscribed in stone, and to which we require people to ascribe. Instead we want to be a people who are totally in love with Yahweh (God), who are set to hear his Word, both preceding (the Scriptures) and proceeding (His Voice), to accurately interpret that Word and then walk it out in complete obedience.”

For those looking for a church to call home, or even those who have a less than stellar impression of church as usual, Priest wants to let them know there is another option out there. “We have found that most people are not mad at God; they just do not like the church and what it has become,” he says.

“It is our goal to change the way people view ministry by restoring the order in which Yahweh (God) created this whole thing to operate. There are people out there who have wondered just like we did at one time, ‘Could there be more?’ Our response is a resounding, ‘YES!’ Not only do we believe there can be more, but we are experiencing it every day of our lives.”

With churches, there’s always the question of what to expect. Priest says, “Expect us to follow the leading of Holy Spirit. Whether that is through song, preaching, prophetic word, or some other form of communication God uses, we will follow His leading.

“As a five-fold ministry, we have pastors but are not lead by them. I am not a pastor. Therefore, if someone comes expecting me to be like another pastor, they will be disappointed. Pastors encourage and build up the people. As an apostle, I can be encouraging, but my main function is to minister the government and order of Yahweh (God). If something is out of order, you can’t expect it to get better no matter how much encouragement you receive.  You must get the order right first.

“This makes it sound like all I preach on is sin, but I rarely speak on sin. Instead I equip saints to know what has been freely given to them and how it all operates, so God’s glory can be revealed here on the earth.”

Another difference visitors can expect is that there are no separate children’s or youth classes. “We purpose to worship together as a family and our primary focus is to raise up strong families. Yahweh (God) prophesied through Malachi in the Old Testament that there would come a day when the hearts of the fathers would be turned to the children and the hearts of the children back to the fathers. I can think of no other time in history when this is needed as much as it is today.

“As an apostle, my greatest desire and purpose is to equip men to be the husbands and fathers they were always created to be. Heaven is not looking for the voice of your pastor or youth pastor to speak over your children or family. Heaven is looking for the one with authority in the situation, and no matter how much the church disagrees that voice of authority is a father.”

Service times are 10 a.m. on Sundays and 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
