It was a brisk November night with only the sound of the breeze rustling through the leaves outside the Owasso Community Center, when suddenly the sound of cowboy boots and spurs could be heard on the sidewalk. The Tri State Gun Slingers and Reenactors had arrived in town. What happened next was the highlight of a little boy’s day!
The young boy, Evan burst forth running. He had waited all day for this moment when the cowboys would arrive in town. Dressed in jeans, western shirt, boots and spurs he was ready to meet the Tri State Gun Slingers and Reenactors! Marshall Rick Neighbors, Grumpy, Leadville Ranger, Wishbone, Okie Ed, Maverick as well as Fancy Nancy were all there to meet and greet him. Marshall Neighbors held up a shiny sheriff’s badge to deputize young Evan. While Evan solemnly raised his right hand and took his oath to stand for good and right, it reminded me that all is well and life will be much more fun as we capture the essence of how the west was won and how a small boy can be excited about reliving the life of his cowboy heroes.
The TriState Gun Slingers and Reenactors have come to town! They will meet at the Owasso Community Center monthly and look forward to seeing all the big kids and little kids at the Owasso Christmas Parade Saturday, December 14 when you guessed it … you’ll be able to meet them yourself and even get deputized!
