MSQPINKSpring is in the air which means, it’s time to start cleaning! Did you know you can skip those overpriced cleaners and make your own? They’re easy to make and most are even better for your health too. Here are a few recipes to get you started:

Spray bottle All-purpose cleaner (Make it right in the spray bottle!)

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon Borax
A few drops of dish detergent
A few drops of essential oils (optional)
Hot water

Instructions: Place borax and hot water in the bottle, leaving enough room to add the rest of the ingredients. Mix up until Borax has dissolved. Add the dish detergent and essential oil and fill the rest of the bottle up with hot water.

Soft Scrub cleaner

Ingredients:
Baking soda
Dish detergent

Instructions: Put desired amount of baking soda into dish. Add enough dish detergent to baking soda to make a paste or frosting-like texture. Spoon onto surface and use a rag or sponge to spread around on the surface you’re cleaning.

Opening a Clogged Drain

Instructions:  Pour about 1/2 cup of baking soda on a clogged grain, then cover it with about 1/2 cup of white vinegar. You’ll see it sizzle, let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse with hot water. (This same method can clean a toilet too).

This works great on minor clogs, I use it all the time in our house. When our disposal starts smelling funky, I use this method then put in a few lemon or orange peels and grind it up.
