Question:
How can I get rid of spider veins on my legs?

Answer:
Spider veins are a common problem as people age. They can occur in both men and women but seem to be more common in women and this is probably due to hormonal changes and pregnancy. That being said, spider vein treatment is not a permanent fix. People are bound to get more as they get older and likely will need repeated treatment. Also, if you know you are going to have additional pregnancies, it would be best until you are finished with that stage of life before considering spider vein treatment.
The most common treatment options are sclerotherapy or laser treatment. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution into the veins that cause them to shrink. Each area of veins will likely need several injections. Laser treatment involves having pulses of light directed at the areas that cause the veins to shrink. This also will likely involve several pulses at each location. Both options can be a painful process but are very effective options and both are offered at Oklahoma Heart Institute’s Vein Clinic.
